? being appended to a keyword wont break anything... but just '?' on the input box or ' ?' at the start of the keyword (i.e. ?home) will display this error message
parsing "?" - Quantifier {x,y} following nothing.
Resolution
Changed default search option to standard text search. Added checkbox to search page to enable RegularExpression searching.
