If you want your system to deliver email WikiNewsletters or to support the NamespaceRequestTools, you need to set up to three options in the web.config file: SMTPServer, SMTPUser, SMTPPassword:

• SMTPServer must be set to the name of an SMTP server that will relay mail for your site.
• If your SMTP server uses login authentication, you should set the SMTPUser and SMTPPassword options. The user name used for authentication will be what you set for SMTPUser and the SMTPPassword will be the password.

A WikiNewsletter is a list of topics and a list of people who are interested in them. On a regular basis, the topics are scanned for changes and if there are changes, notification of those changes is sent to the list of subscribers.
